I want to express my deepest gratitude for the words of Kelly Hayes, who wrote "The Cost of Staying Human" yesterday after ICE murdered Renee Nicole Good in South Minneapolis, where I live. Below are my own thoughts on this the day following that murder as ICE and

eight years later

Eight years later. Eight and a half years ago, in January 2017, I wrote a piece titled, "So, what do I do?" in response to the first election of trump. In June 2025, six months into the second trump administration, I reread it. I've wanted to
